Shepherd University to screen “Rigged: The Voter Suppression Playbook”

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va., – Shepherd University is to feature “Rigged: The Voter Suppression Playbook” on Thursday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Robert Byrd Center of Congressional History and Education auditorium.

The film is part of the Robert Byrd Center’s new fall film program that is in partnership with Shepherd University’s Lifelong Learning Program.

“Rigged” is hosted and narrated by Jeffery Wright, a Tony and Emmy Award-winning actor.

“This is a story that needs to be told and heard,“ Wright said. “I was eager to play a part in telling it and I hope RIGGED sounds an alarm that wakes America up.”

After the film screening, Timothy Smith, the Executive Producer of “Rigged: The Voter Suppression Playbook” will be holding a Q&A session moderated by Dr. Jay Wyatt.

Wyatt said, “We look forward to the West Virginia premiere of this award-winning documentary and generating thoughtful discussion about the right to vote and the future of our democracy.”

Smith will be accompanied by Gerry Hebert, a Senior Director at The Campaign Legal Center in Washington D.C. and one of America’s leading voting rights attorneys.
