Shepherd University cancelled classes and closed the campus at 2 p.m. Tuesday because of a water valve leak at Princess Street in the Shepherdstown water department.

Facilities first notified campus of the problem in a campus-wide email a little after 1 p.m. said in a statement that the leak was repaired at 3:15. Assistant Vice President Holly Frye advised campus to boil water for 30 minutes before use.

“All activity should resume normally on university campus tomorrow,” Frye said.
