Rams Cheer Team takes first place at Reach the Beach competition

Shepherd Cheer wins final competition

(THE PICKET)- The Shepherd Rams Cheer Team took first place at Reach the Beach, an Epic Brands event in Ocean City, Maryland. The team took first in the Elite All-Girl D2 division and won the Grand Champion title on the weekend of April 2.

This year is the first for the team ever earning a grand champion title. “To receive it at both competitions was a shock,” said Coach Lindsey Bordovsky.

In addition to first place and the grand champion title, the Rams received a full paid bid to the U.S. Finals as well as $1,000. The use for the money is not yet known, but it could possibly be used for regular costs, saved for next year, or put toward a custom field flag to use at football games, said Bordovsky.

Shepherd won its division by more than 4.5 points, beating James Madison University, Army West Point and Penn State Harrisburg.
