Shepherd baseball win streak ends at 20

The Shepherd Rams school record 20 game-winning streak ended on Saturday, April 4 with an 8-5 loss to the Glenville State Pioneers. The Rams won the three other games played during the series.

The Pioneers entered the series near the bottom of the Mountain East Conference; however, they were able to keep it competitive in two of the losses against the Rams before picking up the win in the final game of the series.

“Lack of focus, it’s been that way all year in games three and four of a series,” said coach Matt McCarty following the loss. “We’ve been doing well in games one and two. We didn’t concentrate on the little things, we didn’t focus, we didn’t do the things we needed to do to win.”

McCarty added that the loss could serve as a wake-up call.

“I guess we’ll see moving on,” he said.
