Fellowship of Christian Athletes to hold burn your burdens event Nov. 1 when students can symbolically burn their problems in an early evening bonfire.
The first half of the event will be geared toward meeting new people, playing games and having s’mores. The event begins Nov 1 at 6:30 p.m. but, at 7:15 p.m. participants will gather around the fire, write down something that they feel is a burden in their life, and throw that burden into the fire as a symbol of letting it go.
Jared Austin, president of FCA said, “I am really excited to see and meet new people and see the burdens lifted off the individuals that come.” Austin is a junior sociology major and has been a student leader for FCA since his freshman year in 2016 and last spring semester was promoted to president.
FCA is a Christian student group on campus and holds many events over the semester for all students to join. It is not required to be an athlete to join FCA despite the name, many members of FCA are not athletes but rather people who just want fellowship and to learn more about Christ and the Bible.
FCA has their weekly meetings every Wednesday night at 8 in the Butcher Center room 118.
“It’s a great opportunity to fellowship with people from different backgrounds and increase your faith in God,” Austin said.
