DEVELOPING STORY: President Shipley accepts position at Midwestern State University

SHEPHERDSTOWN – In an email announcement to staff late this evening, Shepherd University President Suzanne Shipley said she has accepted the job offer from Midwestern State University beginning July 1.

Shipley said that over the next several weeks she will be working with the board of governors to establish a transition plan that would be set in place prior to her departure.

“Every individual in this university community—students, faculty, staff, alumni and community stakeholders—are what make Shepherd such a special place, a place that will always be close to me no matter where I am,” Shipley said in the email.

The decision to leave Shepherd is “of course, a bittersweet one,” Shipley added.

Shipley’s new position allows her the opportunity to lead a COPLAC institution which shares many similarities to Shepherd while also being close to her family, according to the email.
