BREAKING NEWS: Student Robbed On West Campus

At approximately 4:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, a male Shepherd University student was pushed to the ground and his iPhone and wallet were stolen.

According to the campus Chief of Police, John McAvoy, the student, whose identity remains anonymous, was walking across campus from an academic building to the Butcher Center. Two men attacked the victim near Shaw Hall. The victim stated one held him down while another stole his wallet and iPhone. No serious injuries were reported.

The unknown attackers fled toward the Butcher Center. The only identifying feature described was that both robbers were athletic. The responding officer was Robert Seeders.

Through an online application, the victim’s family obtained an approximate location of the iPhone, but was not able to retrieve it. The phone is believed to be in the same area although it is still missing. The victim’s wallet was found near the Shepherdstown McDonald’s.

No witnesses have yet to come forward or be identified.

The campus police are asking anyone who has any information to contact 304-876-5202. Chief McAvoy stated that any witnesses who come forward will remain anonymous if desired.
