The Shepherd Community Club opened its doors Tuesday at the War Memorial Building to area children who haven’t been going to school because of the teachers strike. The nine-day strike by 20,000 West Virginia teachers from 55 counties ended Tuesday afternoon when Gov. Jim Justice signed a bill giving a 5 percent raise to all state employees, including teachers and school staff. The House of Delegates and the state Senate unanimously approved the measure.
